More screens! 📺📺📺
The IAA motor show premiered the new BMW iX3 & Mercedes GLC.
Two cars that are main sellers for their respective brands and two cars that push new interaction concepts on the interior.
BMW's panoramic vision was hardly a surprise after their previous concept models. Mercedes however thought to take their Hyperscreen to the masses with a massive screen of 39.1 inches - "das Gröβte oder nichts" - seems to be their new slogan.
We've seen these gigantic displays before in China and it seems an attempt to win back the hearts of the Chinese and beg that the Europeans/Americans can swallow it.
Meanwhile though Tesla is continuing to sell a steady Top 3 every month in China with it's "tiny" center screen but excellent software integration and eco-system thinking. Also Mini seems to have chosen the path of minimalism.
I've mapped out a couple of interesting approaches in the image below with More/Less screen on the horizontal and Digital/Tactile buttons on the vertical axis.
What is your take? Which interaction approach do you prefer? 🤔
