Should the Cayenne have been more like the 911 GT3 RS?

There is much to say about the new Porsche Cayenne Electric unveiled yesterday, some like it, others don't, but general consensus is that especially the rear doesn't really feel Porsche.

During his press talk Michael Mauer explicitly expressed that they spend time evolving the things that made the Cayenne truly Cayenne, it's height to width ratio and it's stance.

In doing so however, they seem to have forgotten to really make it Porsche.

I believe that in general Porsche was a brand that you could recognize because of it's unique profile and full volumes, the Porsche ass, is just an ass like no other.

If we break down the design to 3 fundamental levels we clearly see components different from previous Cayenne's and other Porsche's.

(visualized in graphic above)

1.Rear profile
Since the beginning of time, and since the beginning of 911 as the backbone of Porsches design language, Porsches have a very clearly defined -yet soft- muscle over the wheels. Even though there is muscle, the definition is lost.

2.Key graphics and integration
What made Porsches stand out was it's simple horizontal taillight integrated in the rear volume attached to the wheels. On the new Cayenne, the taillight is graphically integrated into the rear glass and sitting on top of the volume.

3.Body color mass
Every Porsche's rear-end has a clear boneline creating a shadow section in which either cladding or diffusor have their place, even on the GT3 RS.

There is much more to say and arguably a lot of compromise has been done for the benefit of aerodynamics/range (Front plan-view, overall silhouette and rims to name a few)

What are your thought's on the new Cayenne, did we loose the Cayenne in genericness?
